Toboggan has a Myspace page now (let's be friends) and Toboggan loves bulletins. Not only do I get to find out that Jaime's last beverage was in fact a diet Coke, these bulletins offer a huge amount of local info. I've gathered some of the better ones from the past week or so, and I'm thinking about making it a weekly thing. Tell me what you think.

SUBJECT: Toledo Underground History - thanks
thetoledowire.com/wikiIt's only been one week since we launched and this already starting to come together so first off, we want to thank everyone who reposted our bulletins, posted about us on messageboards, posted links to our website, and everyone that visited the site and contributed by adding some of the puzzle pieces of Toledo's music history.
Frankly, we are surprised by all of the enthusiasm for this Wiki-History-project. It was enough to nearly shut down our sever on the first night. We are particularly excited by how many Toledo bands from the 80's and early 90's have been added to the database. Its already starting to provide a look into our music scenes past that I have never seen even after spending over ten years in it. The other really interesting thing that is developing is seeing how members of each band connect to other bands they have played in and stitch together the whole scene across genres.
Thanks to everyone who posted, we have a really promising start but we still have a ways to go, so if you haven't visited us yet and posted your bands and members on here yet (not to mention the pictures and stories) do it now. Thanks again.-Dave, Toledo Independent

SUBJECT: Poetry makes the best party. Thurs @ Wesley's 6 pm!
Toledo City Paper celebrates local writers!- TCP Poetry & Fiction Contest 2007 Reception- Thursday, November 8, 2007. 6 p.m.- Wesley's Bar & Grill, 1201 Adams St. in UptownIn the beginning was the word. And it was good. Of course, we're referring to Toledo City Paper's annual Poetry & Fiction Party — a loving salute to the power of the written and spoken word and Toledo area literary talent.
City Paper's Poetry and Fiction issue hits newsstands on Wednesday, November 7, featuring the winning poets and writers who entered our annual competition.
All entries were judged by a panel of qualified judges, including UT professors Dr. Tom Barden and Joel Lipman, BGSU Faculty and Editors of the Mid American Review, Karen Craigo and Mike Czyzniejewski, nationally recognized poet John Dorsey and local spoken word poet Imani Lateef. The winners were chosen in 5 categories: Academic Poetry, Amateur Poetry, Youth Poetry, Flash Fiction and Short Story. The sixth category, Spoken Word, will be judged live at our annual reception.
The party kicks off at 6 p.m. at Wesley's Bar & Grill (the official City Paper watering hole) and will feature the winners reading portions of their work, the spoken word contest and a public open mic. There will be light refreshments, plenty of good vibes ... and some seriously great writing. Don't miss it!

Thursday we will open for John Mueller ( http://www.jonmueller.net/ )at the Bohemian National Home in Detroit
Jon Mueller has been an active drummer and percussionist since the mid-80s. Whether utilizing bombastic minimalism, dense interplay, or electroacoustic practices, his approach focuses on a physical dialog between situation and material, as witnessed in his collaborations with Jason Kahn, Tim Catlin, Rhys Chatham, Bhob Rainey, Hal Rammel, Tetuzi Akiyama, Martijn Tellinga, Lionel Marchetti, and many others. He performs regularly with the groups Collections of Colonies of Bees, MOUTHS and NOM TOM, has been featured on numerous recordings, and has performed throughout the U.S., Japan, and Europe.
Saturday at the Arts village at BGSU with LoVid, Jason Zeh and Bob Newstead
LoVid is an interdisciplinary artist duo composed of Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus. Our work includes live video installations, sculptures, digital prints, patchworks, media projects, performances, and video recordings. We combine many opposing elements in our work, contrasting hard electronics with soft patchworks, analog and digital, or handmade and machine produced objects. This multidirectional approach is also reflected in the content of our work: romantic and aggressive, wireless and wire-full. We are interested in the ways in which the human body and mind observe, process, and respond to both natural and technological environments, and in the preservation of data, signals, and memory.
